James & Tabitha’s Antigua Wedding Experience

General Questions

According to the US Department of State, Antigua is classified as a Level 1:  Exercise Normal Precaution destination, which according to the US is a very safe place to travel.  See Antigua and Barbuda International Travel Information (state.gov).

The Royalton Chic is an Adults-Only resort. Also, no children will be allowed to attend any of the Wedding Experience.

There is no limit on the number of folks you can invite to our Wedding Experience.  Please ensure all guests complete all the necessary things to properly prepare (survey, google sheet, etc.)

Please shoot me a quick email to jamesandtabithawedding@gmail.com if you would like to invite additional friends or family to our wedding experience.  They must book through the link like all guest.

We will be communicating via What’s App.  There will be a general What’s App group created that will include everyone.  While Wifi is available, I may communicate important updates via the jamesandtabithawedding@gmail.com account as well.  However, What’s App will be our main source of communication.  If you do not want to be part of the What’s App group, please respond on the Guest Survey. The Guest Survey can be found on the home page. Please make sure to download the What’s App app.

Please send all inquiries to jamesandtabithawedding@gmail.com

Please reach out to Kaiya if you have any questions related to the Welcome Reception, Wedding, or the Dinner Reception ONLY!  All questions/concerns with your stay should be directed to the Diamond Desk (i.e. your Personal Butler) or Aclena, the Royalton Onsite Group Manager.  She can be reached on What’s App at +1 268 723 7679.

Hurricane season is officially from June through November.  Therefore, we do not anticipate this being a factor in our travel.  However, for peace of mind James and I will be purchasing travel insurance and we encourage you to do the same.

We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance.  James and I will be purchasing travel insurance through Travel Insurance | Allianz Global Assistance (allianztravelinsurance.com), but there are many options.  We decided on annual travel insurance because it was cheaper than one-time travel insurance.   The cost is dependent on the total cost of your room, airfare, etc.  Please read the travel insurance stipulations to make a determination if travel insurance is right for you.  You may want to also check with your credit card provider to see if you have any travel insurance benefits.  Our credit card covers pretty much everything except cancellations due to national pandemics.

If you have issues with your booking, please contact Jhonathan Pacheo with Blue Diamond Resorts at jhpacheco@bluediamondresorts.com. If you still need before with the wedding, please send an email to jamesandtabithawedding@gmail.com for any and all questions prior to the wedding.

I don’t officially have a travel agent unfortunately.  However, this has been a tumultuous process to say the least.  There are a lot of good folks and bad folks in the travel industry.  I was shocked by some of the negative things I experienced on the other side of the travel process as a customer.  As a result, I have decided to start my own travel agency with a heart to shield others from the many misconceptions of group travel.  No one has time for the BS!  I voluntarily elected to take on this task to understand the reality of doing this on a part-time basis and maybe full-time in the future.  James and I plan to travel until we can’t travel anymore.   Stay tuned to for the unfolding of TNT Travel Event Management.

  1. Bring plenty of sunscreen!  I got sunburned walking less than a mile with no sunscreen on the back of my legs!
  2. Sand flies are a real thing. Make sure to put on plenty of oil (coconut, olive, etc.) around your ankles around dusk/dawn if you are going to be in the sand.
  3. The mosquitoes were no joke. I went in the middle of the summer, so they may not be as bad in December.  Either way, bring bug repellant.
  4. Book your restaurant reservations as soon as you’re done checking in. I learned that if you eat earlier (5:30-6:30), there is less of a wait.  The Butler can also assist with reservations.  We will be feeding you on Friday & Saturday evening.  Shirley Heights has food vendors, but I was told the food is just OK, so I advise that you eat before or after the trip.
  5. Think twice before renting a car. The roads are terrible and you have to drive on the “wrong side of the road”.  The stop lights are for decoration.
  6. Ask your Personal Butler to give you all your beach towels for the entire stay on Day One! I did hear that periodically the hotel runs out of beach towels.
  7. When you connect back into Miami or Charlotte on your flight, you will have to re-check your bag. When you land in the US, you have to grab your bag off the carousel and take it to a drop off point on your way to go through customs.  Do not take your time making this transaction family.  The line was long, but it moved fast.
  8. Get Global Entry. This will expedite your entry back into the US through customs.  I literally cleared customs in like 2 minutes.
  9. Don’t make the mistake I made. I got up 3 hours early to get to the airport because I thought I had to catch my flight through the international terminal.  I was flying domestic through Miami, so I didn’t need to go through the international terminal.  Still get to the airport early because I think there are only 2-3 flights into Antigua per day depending on your connecting airport.  You do not want to miss your connecting flight.  Miami airport…let me be quiet…LOL.
  10. Golden Rule: When folks give you a price, please know that it is in EC (Caribbean Dollar) unless they say USD.  Their “$” looks very similar to the USD sign.  A taxi driver hustled me out of $64USD for a 6 miles trip!!  The Hustler got hustled (LMBO!)  I assumed it was USD (SMH!).  Listen…the hustle is real over there in those Antigua streets…LOL.  Trust no one concerning this.  Everybody and I do mean everybody is trying to get a cut.  The cost of a taxi around where we are going is not too bad.  If you are strictly rolling with us, all your transportation needs are taken care of in the $70.00 Transportation Cost.  Don’t forget this Golden Rule.
  11. The USD goes a long way! 1 East Caribbean Dollar is currently $0.37!  I had a whole lobster dinner with appetizer and shrimp for $50 USD!  It’s a little bit to get there, but very inexpensive once you arrive if you eat off the resort.
  12. Each room comes with a free bottle of liquor/wine for your room compliments of the Royalton. If you don’t like your bottle, your Personal Butler or the Diamond Desk can switch it out your first day.  If you do not want your bottle, please What’s App me when you get settled.  I’ll add it to our drink inventory.  Your room should come stocked with sodas, water, etc.
  13. Make sure to complete the Guest Survey. We can’t wait to see your beautiful faces!

Please do not wear the following colors on the wedding date:  White, fuschia or yellow (our wedding colors). The dress code is Summer Chic Attire.  Please google it online to get an idea of the flow.  I’m told that the average temperatures are around 82-83 degrees during the day.  Additional weather information can be found online.  PLEASE NOTE THAT A DRONE, PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY, AND VIDEOGRAPHY WILL BE ONGOING THROUGHOUT THE EVENT, SO GET JIGGY.

Welcome Reception-Related

The attire for the welcome reception is ALL WHITE.  The reception will be held on the beach.  It is recommended from my personal research that you put oil (coconut oil, olive oil, etc.) around your ankles if you are going to be in the sand around dusk and dawn.  Sand flies are a real thing and oil will minimize or eliminate those nagging bites.  It is my understanding they only come out around dusk and dawn, but please do your own research.  PLEASE NOTE THAT PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY WILL BE ONGOING THROUGHOUT THE EVENT, SO COME DRESSED TO IMPRESS.

You will have to pay to get to the welcome reception on your own.  We are on the clock with a short duration for this event, so we will start on-time 😊.

Resort Questions

If you have issues with your booking, please contact Jhonathan Pacheo with Blue Diamond Resorts at jhpacheco@bluediamondresorts.com

Four (4) nights is the minimum stay to participate in all that we have planned. We encourage you to fly in on Thursday, 12/5/24 to give yourself time to decompress given the flight time and Friday’s agenda.  Our recommended departure day would be Monday, 12/9/24 at the earliest.  Of course, feel free to hang out with us longer.  Take advantage of the beautiful island of Antigua while you are here.  There is plenty to do😊 and you have flown a long way to get there.

Your first night’s deposit is due when you book your room.   A group link has been issued with a limited quantity of rooms (currently 58 total).

The first night’s deposit is 100% non-refundable.  The group booking link will be deactivated on 10/19/24 and no changes can be made to your reservation.  The resort also has indicated they will not accept any changes once you arrive, so please make sure your information is correct no later than 10/18/24.  You will have to resolve any financial issues with the resort.  Your individual room reservations are treated as individual reservations under a Group Booking.  I have no control or authorization to speak with the resort on your behalf.

Your final payment will be due once you arrive at the resort.  PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO PAY YOUR FIRST NIGHT NON-REFUNDABLE ROOM DEPOSIT THROUGH THE GROUP LINK.  THE REMAINING BALANCE WILL BE DUE WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE RESORT like a normal resort reservation.  This a special deal that I have secured that does not require periodic payments leading up to the stay.     Please note if you default and do not pay the remaining balance, the resort will absorb the deposit.  Please make sure to read the terms and conditions.

There is a mandatory Tourism Guest Levy charge that will be required upon registration in the amount of $5 per person per night.

Any reservation changes (room category, name changes, room occupancy, etc.) must be completed no later than 10/18/24.  Please contact Jhonathan Pacheo with Blue Diamond Resorts at jhpacheco@bluediamondresorts.com.  After this date, the link will be deactivated, so guests will not be able to modify existing reservations.  Check-in at the front desk will be based on active reservations and changes will not be permitted during check-in or during the group stay.  The resort will not bend on these requirements. We have intentionally selected all Diamond Club rooms for the Group Booking.  All of the rooms below will include a Personal Butler.

We have intentionally selected all Diamond Club rooms for the Group Booking. All the rooms below will include a Personal Butler. Keep strolling down to see what is included in the Royalton Diamond Club experience.

The rooms can be viewed online at Suites – Royalton CHIC Antigua (royaltonresorts.com)

as well as Bungalow Over Water | Royalton Chic Antigua (firstview.us)

We currently only have 58 rooms being held under the group booking in various categories.  If the rooms are exhausted and you would like to attend, please send me an email to jamesandtabithawedding@gmail.com. Royalton will keep track of the inventory and notify me of room availability once we exhaust our Group Booking.

You may come as early and stay as late as you desire.  James and I will be arriving on 12/3 and will be departing on 12/11.  Aside from a little fun before the real fun starts, we will be making last minute preparations for the wedding.  The resort wedding rate will be honored only through use of the booking group link that will be available three days before and three days after the date range of 12/3-12/11.

It is highly recommended that you choose a room to book as soon as possible even if your chosen room category or type (e.g. Queen vs. King) is not available.  Once the inventory is depleted, no guarantee additional rooms will be added.  There is a firm capacity limit of guests that can attend the wedding based on the wedding location, so don’t delay, book today 😊.  If your room of choice becomes available the hotel can switch it out, with you being responsible for the difference in the deposit and the cost of the room.

Our vision for doing a destination wedding was to go on vacation together with our friends and family.  Our vision was that we all can collectively enjoy a VIP experience as a group at an unbeatable price.  There are very few resorts that offer this experience, but you will pay at least double the price.  We were fortunate to get a great introductory rate for this experience with the grand opening.  This is a brand new resort that opened on 4/29/24!

As I mentioned above, our vision for this experience is to go on vacation with our friends and family.  While at the resort, James and I will be enjoying the wonderful benefits of the Diamond Club experience and we want to enjoy that experience with you!  We have designed this experience so that you can be right there with us.   We don’t want anyone to be separated from the group while at the resort.  We planned this trip to create an atmosphere of “togetherness”.   There is a separate beach, lounges, and restaurants accessible only accessible to Diamond Club members only, so this trip is to ensure we can enjoy your presence throughout the entirety of the trip.   Your first night’s deposit under the Group Link will count as your confirmation that you will be attending the wedding.

At the time of the contract signing we consumed all the remaining Diamond Club rooms for our group.  Once we have booked at 100% capacity, the resort indicated they would be willing to switch Queens to Kings, upon request.

Although it is customary to tip those providing service at an all-inclusive resort it is totally at your discretion.  If you choose to tip, the customary tips are as follows:   Butler:  $50.00-$100 at the end of the stay; Drink servers:  $2.00-$3.00/drink; Housekeepers:  $5/day.  At the end, it’s your choice.  USD is accepted.

James and I will be entertaining and enjoying this special time and will not be available to assist with managing any issues at the resort, should they arise.  The resort is new and we don’t expect any issues.  Your first point of contact should be the Diamond Desk.  If you are not getting what you need, the assigned group manager onsite is Aclena.  She can be contacted via What’s App at +1 268 723 7679.

Transportation-Related

Yes.  Make sure that your passport is valid for 180 days following your departure date.  If your passport does not have at least 180 days following your departure date, the airline will not allow you to fly.

A travel VISA is not required for travel to Antigua for our trip.  If you plan to stay longer, please check with the passport agency for further instructions.

There is an optional service, is listed on the wedding website called VIP Fast Track.  For only $69 one-way per person, a VIP Fastrack representative will welcome guests at the gate and provide an expedited process through customs and immigration once you arrive and/or depart from Antigua.  Additional information can be found at VIP/concierge Services – V.C. Bird International Airport (vcbia.com).  Please note that the airport currently does not have a Fastrack lounge.  Please reference the Travel tab to get VIP Fast Track service through Nexus Tours.

No.  You will have to make your own flight arrangements.  You are encouraged to book your flight as soon as possible.  Please be aware there are not a large number of flights going into Antigua.  The vast majority of flights will connect via Charlotte or Miami on American Airlines.  The worst thing that can happen is to pay for a resort and you can’t get there or it’s an arm and leg because you waited until the last minute to book.  December is one of the busiest months of the year.

We are contracted with Nexus Tours to provide private transfer services at an additional cost.  Please access the link under the Transportation tab.  Pre-payment will be required.  The drive from the airport to the resort is approximately 15 minutes.  In addition, taxis can be obtained from the airport to the resort at a government flat rate.

There is a one-time non-refundable transportation cost that will be collected from everyone attending the wedding.  A link is provided on the wedding website under the Transportation tab.  The cost of transportation for any Optional Group Excursions on Friday and Sunday is included.  See the Payment Link options under the Transportation tab.

The hotel can assist with transportation for any additional optional services that you choose to participate in.  Please check with the Diamond Desk.

There is an Executive Lounge at the airport.  Please check with your credit card to see if this lounge is included in your benefits.  I do know that holders of the Priority Pass card do have free access to this lounge and can bring in a designated amount of guests.  Otherwise there is a cost to access this lounge and I believe reservations are required.

Information about the lounge can be found at Executive Lounge – V.C. Bird International Airport (vcbia.com)

Optional Group Excursions Listed on the Wedding Website

Yes.  If you choose to participate you have to pay for any optional planned wedding excursions.  While we would love for you to roll with us through every planned activity, we do honor that you are also on vacation and may want to enjoy the island your way, except the Welcome Reception and Wedding.  These events will be paid for on your behalf in advance, with the exception of transportation.  More importantly we want to see your smiling faces for this momentous occasion.

A link is provided under the Group Excursion tab on the wedding website to pay for any optional planned wedding excursions.

The transportation for all Group Excursions is included in the one-time Transportation Cost that is required to be paid for all guests under the Transportation tab.

Additional excursions outside of the planned wedding activities can be booked directly through your Personal Butler or the Diamond Desk. In addition, I have partnered with Caribbean Explorer.  A selection of activities can be found at Island Safari Discovery – my Caribbean Explorer.
